My work is a reflection of my surroundings . Not nature , but the never-diminishing power of mass media images, I use or reuse for my paintings. The must of innovation ‘ , a phenomenon that seems to dominate the twentieth century , is going past me. I experience it as a dead end. Rather I make liberal use of the existing.
The mass media have enabled us in an exuberant way to take all the different styles of the past knowledge. These all have proven their quality , we may need to draw from . I think each style period refers to an ideology, the ideology of the time in which they arose . Today, that historic styles ( and ideologies ) recognized alongside each other and with a style and a certain ideology propagated message , then that message in any case no longer clear . My work is not clear . I always try to make different layers of meaning . In Not only content , but also formal, so concerning the use of my painting materials , the way I paint my example proceeds .
Content keeps me busy especially the phenomenon of fragmentation . Both psychological ( who am I ) and in sociology (which I have ) sense. The idea of ‘unity ‘ I have to drop . Both the man and to society The unitary idea is fictional, reality consists of several parts . Man wants outwardly seem like it as a unit . This is more of a personality ( role ) play , then a personality (think of Madonna , Cindy Sherman , Laura Anderson ) . The step of this vision in my work, which is composed unveiled , will be clear . The images I use are known , they have a meaning . I play with them and add my worldview. The spectator takes on what he recognizes .
