The mass media have enabled us in an exuberant way to take all the different styles of the past knowledge. These all have proven their quality , we may need to draw from . I think is the way each style period for an ideology , the ideology of the time in which they arose . Today, that historic styles ( and ideologies ) recognized alongside each other and with a style and a certain ideology propagated message , then that message in any case no longer clear . My work is not clear . I always try to make different layers of meaning . In Not only content , but also formal, so concerning the use of my painting materials , the way I paint my example proceeds .

Content keeps me busy especially the phenomenon of fragmentation . Both psychological ( who am I ) and in sociology (which I have ) sense. The idea of ‘unity ‘ I have to drop . Both the man and to society The unitary idea is fictional, reality consists of several parts . Man wants outwardly seem like it as a unit . This is more of a personality ( role ) play , then a personality (think of Madonna , Cindy Sherman , Laura Anderson ) . The step of this vision in my work, which is composed unveiled , will be clear . The images I use are known , they have a meaning . I play with them and add my worldview. The spectator takes on what he recognizes .

Herman Brood committed suicide in 2001 by jumping . At the Hilton Hotel in Amsterdam

I always knew that I would be ” artist is a statement of Herman Brood you regularly encounter in interviews . Herman Brood has therefore been painted throughout his life and signed but has become famous in the first place with his music .

Born in Zwolle Bread appears as child. Colorblind That does not keep him from going just to keep it off. Several months to art school in Arnhem in later life

But he discovered in this period another passion : music. In Cuby & the Blizzards his musical career starts , his greatest successes with his book Bread Wild Romance band . When the success of ” Saturday Night ” is no longer equaled , Bread stores to painting .

Bread received his first piano lessons in 1959 . At school he could not keep well , he prefers what was to ping the expired factory of his father on a piano . Bread went in 1964 to the Academy of Arts in Arnhem and joined the local beat band The Moans . The band performed many shows for American troops in West Germany and Bread was sometimes a pill imputed to stay awake . Thus began his addiction . In 1967 he moved to Cuby and the Blizzards . He met the then Miss Groningen Tekie Buissink , with whom he had a brief relationship . On May 24, 1968 , their son Marcel was born. When the record company learned that he used drugs , he was put out of the band . There was an unclear period ended Bread regularly in prison for burglary and drug trafficking .

Beginning in 1974 he participated in a Cuby and the Blizzards reunion for VARA TV show Nederpopzien . From the moment he picked up his musical career back on . He played briefly in the North Holland formation Stud and recorded an album including Jan Akkerman called Flash & Dance Band . He then joined the band Vitesse . After their debut in 1975, he left it again .

In 1976, a crucial meeting took place . Bread starred in Cuby and the Blizzards , who for a short time was re-established , when he the needle of a syringe into his trash dropped . In cafe ‘ t Pleintje in Winschoten The owner of the cafe , Koos van Dijk , came in when Bread in the trash was looking for his needle . Rather than put bread outside the door Van Dijk turned the trash and searched diligently . From then joined Van Dijk as Brood’s manager , he would continue to Brood’s death in 2001.

Bread left Cuby and the Blizzards and started his own band : Herman Brood & His Wild Romance ( see also: Wild Romance ) . In 1977 the album Street came out that was received enthusiastically.
